Fish in Jacksonville for free!?!

June 9th, 2010 by thegeek | No Comments | Filed in FishingJacksonville Website Updates

The shoreline fishing license for Florida residents to catch saltwater fish from shore or a structure affixed to shore cost $9 last year, but this year it’s free, beginning July 1.

Fish in Jacksonville for Free in July

The Florida Legislature repealed the shoreline license fee during the past session. However, legislators retained the license requirement to prevent a more-costly federal registration fee from taking effect in Florida.

Only Florida residents qualify for a no-cost shoreline license, and the license does not cover fishing from a boat or fishing from a location or structure accessible only by boat.

There is still a 2-3 $ fee for purchasing the licences…aka convenience fee

New Fishing Jacksonville Forum

July 13th, 2009 by thegeek | No Comments | Filed in FishingJacksonville Website Updates

I am excited to announce the new FishingJacksonville fishing forum. I have spent about two months trying to the best forum software that would easily integrate with everybody’s existing profile. I found one that was easy enough to integrate and modify to allow single sign-on (one login and password for the entire site). This information is probably too techy, so the most important message is that there is a fishing forum that we can also use to communicate. I’ll need your help in getting this forum going, so tell your friends all about it.

If you have suggestions for categories, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Site Additions

July 3rd, 2009 by thegeek | No Comments | Filed in FishingJacksonville Website Updates

Recently, I’ve been working hard to update the content on FishingJacksonville. I took a charter on the Majesty and have some great photos to share.

Also, the Mayport Boat Ramp has been added under Jacksonville Boat Ramps.

Another feature that I think will be a useful tool for those heading out to fish is the new Jacksonville Bait Shop listing. Now, before you head out, stop by FishingJacksonville, check out the Jacksonville Bait Shop section, and be sure to stop in to get your bait.

I hope you find these updates useful,

I went on a fishing charter last weekend out of Mayport, Fl and at the request of one of our members, FatBack, I decided to stop over at the Mayport Boat Ramp and do a little research. Check this ramp out if you’re looking for the closest boat ramp to the ocean.

I’ll post some pictures of the fishing trip soon.
